Hello Walden Creek Families!

Welcome to the 2022 Summer Swim Season! We hope that you are as excited about the start of the upcoming season as we are. Through this email we'll be communicating some important information about the upcoming season to help you plan for the start, which is right around the corner.

Coaches

Unfortunately, Coach Rio and Coach Katherine will not be returning to Coach the Wahoos this season. The Board will be interviewing coaches in the next couple of weeks. If you are interested in applying for a coaching position, please submit a letter of interest and a resume via email to Meaghan Clayton. Meaghan's email is [email protected]. The deadline for submitting your application/information is March 13th, 2022. Once interest letters and resumes have been reviewed, coaching candidates will be notified of the next steps which typically include an in person or virtual interview.

Schedule
With the current COVID transmission rates continuing to drop, and a much better understanding of how to protect ourselves, we are expecting that we will have a normal season with a full complement of meets this year. To prepare for that, our season will officially begin on Monday May 16th with afternoon practices. As in years past, we will add morning practices once the traditional calendar school year ends in early June. As of right now, TSA, the governing body for summer swimming, has not released the meet schedule. Once we receive the schedule information, we will share it with all of you. In the past, our intersquad mock meet has been held on the first Tuesday in June followed by 6 consecutive weeks of meets. We hope that the practice schedule (days and hours) will be the same as in years past. We are in the process of confirming the practice schedule with the HOA.

Swim Team Board
We are always looking for volunteers to help us on the WC Wahoos Swim Team Board. If you are interested in helping out on the board please email Eric Schoenagel at [email protected] or Bryan Thompson at [email protected]. No special knowledge of swimming or previous experience is needed. A desire to help out is the only prerequisite.

Volunteers
We are always looking for ways to improve the Swim Team experience. If you have any ideas that you'd like to share or would like to volunteer to help out the team please email Jenna Alvarez at [email protected].

Registration

Swim Team Registration is not open at this time. We will send a note when registration opens. 

The WC Swim Team Board is excited about the start of the 2022 season. It's a great opportunity for our community to get together, develop our swimming, and have a whole lot of fun. We'll be in touch in the coming weeks once we receive additional information.
