Welcome to the 2022 Walden Creek Wahoos Summer Swim season!

We are extremely excited about being back on deck this year and competing in summer swimming. We have a lot of information to cover in this email, so keep reading!

COACHES

We are excited to announce our 2022 Coaching Staff! Matthew Schoenagel and Hailey Holt will lead our team as co-head coaches. Lauren Schoenagel and Riley Thompson will be Jr. Coaches and we will be introducing a new category of coach this summer, a Lane Coach. These coaches will be in the lanes with the kids at practice (in addition to our other coaches) and also be the primary coaches in the lanes at the meets “catching” our 6&U age group. Our lane coaches will be Will Estes, Nick Jensen, Joella Waters, Ewen McGrath. Andrew Li will be helping us out as an 11&U stroke technique coach.

NEW VOLUNTEER SYSTEM 

This summer we are going to try something new with our volunteer system. Instead of requiring families to serve at 3 meets, we will be breaking most of the jobs into half meet shifts. This will allow you to watch at least half of each meet if you prefer. We will be using a point system. Each family will be required to earn a minimum of 6 points. (Each half meet shift is worth 1 point). You are more than welcome to earn more than 6 points, and we will reward you for doing such by putting your name in a raffle at the banquet to earn prizes for each point over 6 that you earn.   

In an effort to have a familiar face in certain roles all summer, and reduce having to learn a new job each week, we are offering a few jobs as a season long job. We would ask you to work this job at each meet, and thus give you 12 points. These jobs include Head Clerk of Course, Head Kid Pusher, Head Timer, Head Ribbon Writer, Starter & Meet Administrator. We would also love to have someone volunteer as a Volunteer Coordinator. Please let us know if you're interested!

SUITS 

We will have the same suit again this year, a solid black suit with our logo on it. You can order this suit at All American Swim in Cary. See our website for more information.

SCHEDULE 

All important dates are listed on our website, please mark your calendars! 

PIZZA AT THE POOL We will have a pizza party at the pool Monday, May 16 at 7pm following our first night of practice. Pre-order pizza for your family from Romeos. The team will provide dessert. Bring your own drinks. We will have a parents meeting at 7:30 while the coaches play games with the kids.
